About Lehigh Valley Sing Off
Our Mission
The Lehigh Valley Sing-Off was inspired by Harry Chapin's song, "Mr. Tanner", and a competition was born. The events will give the Lehigh Valley community the opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the talent in our local music community, all while keeping to the ideals of doing well for your fellow person and fighting hunger in our communities.
Plus, the Champion of the Event will have the notoriety of being the Lehigh Valley Sing-off Champion with a $2000. Grand Prize!
The Sing-off will showcase local Singers, Songwriters, and Musicians by holding a series of 3 monthly, plus one final, “Sing Off” competitions where local vocal and musical artists (must be based in Lehigh, Northampton, Monroe, & Warren NJ, counties) will perform.
The Program includes: .
- Preliminary qualifying events that include a 15-minute set by artists that will be judged each month based on a formula of audience voting and professional judges. There will be Five (5) Artists contesting each event. The winner of each preliminary competition will receive a $100 prize and be invited for the final “Sing Off” at the end of the 3 weekly competitions.
- The three finalists will compete in the same format and the grand prize winner will receive $2,000.
- Local music producers (like scouts in minor league baseball) will be invited to the performances and to the finals for possible record collaborations for the artists.
- Our hope is that a major venue will allow the winning artist to perform at least once at their location and evaluate their talent for future work.
- Admission to the weekly and final performances will be with a combination admission of monetary and food donation that will go to the local food bank that is located one block away (Hunger was a Harry Chapin staple charity at all of his concerts). A portion of the admission will be donated to the World Hunger Year charity.
